Calm Press is an acupressure sequence from my new book due out this fall: The Parent-Child Dance: A Guide To Help You Understand and Shape Your Child’s Behavior.*
Calm Press was taught to me by my mentor, occupational therapist Kim Barthel. This valuable technique uses pressure to calm and relax.
Older children and adolescents may like to try it themselves, but it is best to do it for younger children. Not only will it be easier for them, but they will receive the added benefit of a loving parent’s touch.
Touch is such an important part of bonding, and we know that it also has the power to heal.
It plays a starring role not only in occupational therapy, but in effective parenting.
